NIVIA Sports Project II

3D Material Mural for NIVIA Sports, Jalandhar
Circular Goal
Mural, material collage, interactive, site - specific project for NIVIA 2019 by Dagmar I. Glausnitzer-Smith 400 x 200 cm wall space
Based on the process oriented making of the artwork – Circular Goal –, as a mural pays tribute to the workers at NIVIA SPORTS, who have participated in the development of the art work and simultaneously have been previously handling the materials by being involved with the production of NIVIA goods: gloves, sports balls, sports garments, shoes, bags etc.
The materials are purposely collected and found on locations of SV Sport Shoes, NIVIA Synthetics and NIVIA Sports as they are left-overs from the line of production. The artwork intentionally draws upon the aspect of recyclable objects to become the pallet for color composition, shapes and forms. The method will be based on hand-stitching which is also a valued feature in the production of footballs by NIVIA.
During the process employees will spend some time together with the artist to help and apply their stitching abilities to become part of completion of the mural. The center of the work is marked by a blank sphere. (representing the potential for an ‘open’, unknown change of perspective and the basic shape of the sports ball itself).
